What is diabetes?
Diabetes caught my attention when I recently learned that there are over 10 million people have diabetes and 300 more will be diagnosed a year after. This is what I have read from a medical magazine. I’m not into medicine but knowing this health condition will definitely help lessen the possibility of acquiring it. Accordingly Diabetes is a chronic metabolic condition caused by the body’s inability to breakdown sugar. This will eventually trigger some complications in the organ system. Complications include poor circulation in the bloodstream leading to some strokes and even heart attacks. It would also cause nerve damage, high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries. Diabetes toxic effect has made it the highest cause of death in Canada and US.
Take active control of your health this is the best way to fight diabetes:
- Meal Planning (special foods, alcohol and portion control)
- Monitoring of blood sugar (use monitoring meters)
- Exercise (what kind, how long, how hard)
- Use of insulin and diabetes pills
- Required tests (glycohemoglobin, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, eye exam, and blood pressure)
