I am not an avid reader of any book, but if it’s about classic literature then count me in. I love good mystery let’s face it; the best adventures are borne from some mystery that needed to be solved. I started reading this genre when one time I got lost in our school library and found a collection of mystery books from then on mystery has been my favorite reading material. I won’t really the tell stories I’ve read instead I will share some of my thoughts about the mystery writers whose works have redefined the genre.

Dashiell Hammett: This American writer single-handedly elevated the hard-boiled detective novels into an art form unto itself. This man from whose imagination Sam Spade sprung forth. His literary style is sparse, lean, as direct and as no nonsense as his most enduring characters. Novels I’ve read include “Red Harvest” and “The Dain Curse”.

Edgar Allan Poe: “The Cask of Amontillado,”Murders in the Rue Morgue,” These are just two of his classic I’ve read all serving as proof of Poe’s creative genius. The themes of his works are Gothic, with death its physical manifestation, decomposition, reanimation of the dead and mourning.
