My friends from college and I planned to go on bird watching his Sunday. We will do this as part of our continuing education about Ornithology or simply the study of birds. I am so excited since this will a nice outdoor activity and this is also a way for me to further appreciate birds in the wild. So as my preparation for the said activity I will bring the following bird watching gears.
Binoculars: Any pairs binoculars is fine, but the Wild Birds Club recommends one with eight x 25 optics.
Field Guide: These books are the reference of the birds you can expect to see in a particular area and how to identify them. So get a copy of these reference guide form your locality I had mine already.
Hat: Since I’ll be spending all my time outdoors under the sun. I will bring a good head cover.
Notebook: A small notebook to write down my birding observations will give me a better chance to study them. I can also draw if I came across a bird I can’t identify.
Natural colored clothing: Bright colors like red, yellow and white clothes accordingly can alarm birds and make them harder to see. So I will wear dull colors like khaki, green and brown instead so that I can blend in with nature. If you are a serious bird watcher invest in a lightweight birding vest with storage pockets to keep gear handy.
