Sweaty Palms

As I was reading some magazine this morning I have read an article about the profuse sweating of the palms or the palmar hyperhidrosis. I then remember my college classmate who had this condition wherein she always needed some hanky to wipe her sweaty hands. It was a serious problem according to her especially when she uses electronic devices such as mobile phones, cameras and even plugging or unplugging electrical devices because she is electrocuted most of the time.

The condition of having excessive sweating palms as well as the face or the armpit is called hyperhidrosis. This condition is triggered by overactive sympathetic nervous system which may result to rapid heartbeat, blood vessel constriction and excessive sweating. So if you have a similar problem here are some of common remedies prevent excessive palm sweating:

  • Use an unscented, aluminum salt-based antiperspirant, preferably a product made for palms and feet.
  • Try clapping cornstarch or talcum powder between your palms. Medicated powders are available to soak up moisture.
  • Apply aluminum chloride paint to the area for persistent clamminess.
  • Surgical procedures are also available in order to deactivate the nerves that trigger sweating such as botox as laser.
