Koi brings good luck

Chinese do believe about the good luck brought about by koi. These are fish that originally came from China and they are brightly colored. Anyway I have learned this belief way back in high school when my friend who has Asian ancestry invited some of us in their house. He toured us in their compound; they have built a pond instead of a pool. I noticed that they do have gold fish and as I analyzed they were not really gold fish because they stouter and bigger as compared to what I have seen in aquariums. He then told me those are koi, according to him these is one of the most treasured fish by the Chinese because it brings good luck. His father regularly maintains the pond as a hobby. I also noticed that they have koi pond supplies on the edge of the pond signifying that they really have the passion to care for these fish. I have written this post because I happen to passed by on a pet shop where they sell shiny fish same as the koi.
